The Global March For Elephants and Rhinos (GMFER) is currently awaiting word from CITES CoP18 as to when they (CITES) will reschedule their series of conferences which was “originally scheduled to take place from 23 May to 3 June in Colombo, Sri Lanka“.

 

As the GMFER had planned to immediately precede CITES CoP18 the annual elephant activist event dates continue to remain unknown. Although some groups in some cities, such as London and Los Angeles, CA (USA), have held their marches other cities worldwide have postponed their GMFER show of support for our elephants.

Please visit the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora  CITES CoP18 website for full details/letter which includes the circumstances surrounding the postponement. As officials in Sri Lanka and CITES have stated the safety of all is of utmost importance.
