“Flight of the Elephant” Musical Event Is a Splendid Elephant Family Story : Part 1

If you have never discovered this delightful story before now is the time to become acquainted with young Amelia the elephant, Marvin the oxpecker and, of course, Dirk the elephant, who comes to appreciate that sometimes the most unlikely solutions from the most unlikely sources can somehow save the day!

With a message that still resonates today and a symphony orchestra that still carries you away it is worth your while to hear and feel the heartbeat of the African elephant and to remember that unless humans take major steps to protect these majestic creatures there will soon be a world without elephants. And there just cannot be a world without elephants

Flight of the Elephant

“It was just past dawn when Marvin, the oxpecker, arrived to watch the parade of elephants begin their migration.”

“It’s an anxious time, when young and old jockey for position. Tempers flare, and patience is in short supply.”

The next generation is learning the rhythms of Africa.”

“It’s the calm before the storm…

…because Marvin is not the only one drawn to the elephants.” (danger lurks as jeep vehicles are tents are spotted in the area)

“And yet, the parade moves on majestically through the valley.

But Amelia (elephant) has her own ideas about how to get where she’s going.”

‘Aren’t you going with them?’ asked Marvin

Amelia! Where are you? Put that down! You are always slowing us down!’ trumpets Dirk, the self-proclaimed disciplinarian in the herd.

‘Get moving! You spoiled brat’ demanded Dirk

‘You’re lucky I am not in charge’ groused Dirk

Amelia whispers, ‘Well, you’re not in charge. Jerk!’

‘Why is everyone always picking on me?’ asked Amelia

‘I’m not hurting anyone.’

‘I don’t need them! I don’t need anyone, especially not Dirk the Jerk!’ muttered Amelia
