Ginger the elephant has come far from her days as a begging elephant on the streets of India before her 2021 rescue by Wildlife SOS. Despite her blindness and other frailties that come with years of abuse, Ginger is finding her way and embracing her new life as an elephant, as should be. Journey with Ginger, from her own perspective, through a day in her life as a rescued elephant at Wildlife SOS.
Narrator: “My name is Ginger and I was rescued from a life of begging by Wildlife SOS.”
“Today, a summer day for me at the Wildlife SOS Elephant Hospital Campus will always begin with a hearty meal of fresh fruits and vegetables. My caregiver is always by my side. He will break down my food into smaller pieces so it is easier for me to eat.”
“With my belly full my caregiver will take me for a quick shower. I splash the water all over myself while my caregiver scrubs me down ensuring that my sensitive skin is clean and protected.”
“Next it is time for my daily veterinary treatments, an integral aspect helping me become stronger by the day.”
“As treatment ends I go for a splash in the Yamuna River where the water carries away all of my worries.”
“Meanwhile my care team is hard at work building a solid mud mound. With the support of this mound I can lie down and give some support to my aching joints.”
