Nowadays at BLES Wassana basks in the wonders of the life of an elephant who just so happens to be a pampered pachyderm, on the receiving end of daily footbaths & foot rubs to help her heal.

And her boot. Wassana just loves her boot! The boot that is placed with love and care over the bandages which help to cushion her injured elephant foot.

But this former trekking / logging elephant did not expect such fortune as her name (Wassana) suggests. Katherine & Anon of BLES were out searching for another elephant, an abused baby elephant, when an “unexpected wrong turn” on a road led them to a “crying” (from the pain her owner inflicted on the elephant when striking Wassana with a bullhook) & “limping” (from a severe “old landmine injury which had blown away half of her foot”) female elephant practically begging to be rescued.

Oh, if only elephants could talk! But they can! It just takes a special human to learn how to listen.

Thank you, Katherine & Anon for serving as those special people who not only listen to elephants but who provide a sanctuary & the love for Asian elephants in need of being rescued.
