At Least We Had Each Other For A Little While
At least we had each other for a little while
Sharing our hopes and our dreams
But holding the candle for our elephants
Was not all as it seems
Sometimes the most difficult tasks
Are the most worthwhile
Like standing by our elephants
It has always been our style
To care about a species
That is so much like us
Still their future looks grim
Unless humans step in
To champion their cause without fuss
The time we’ve spent together seems so brief
These last ten years have brought us so much
Our loyal followers, we know, will carry the torch
To save elephants, they’ll never give up.
