If any good can come out of this worldwide pandemic one could say that wildlife and nature stand to benefit the most. As humans continue to stay indoors on lockdown there is a noticeable (positive) difference on the impact to our environment. The clash of humans with wildlife, especially with our elephants (human-elephant conflict), has lessened considerably, or at the very least, it has been going in the right direction, anyway.
Already our wild elephants have been able to roam freely on paths that were once exclusively theirs while humans can only sit back and observe their magnificence from afar*.
*or pretty darn close, as the family in the video can attest to!
The UK Charity Elephant Family has featured this in a new video, “Loving Lockdown,” brought to their attention by a family in India just observing a family of elephants from their porch; an Asian elephant herd happily trumpeting their way down a path, just enjoying their elephant time, just being elephants.
While we all know this freedom for our elephants will not continue unimpeded like this, in a post COVID19 lockdown world one can see the good that a compromise with wildlife can bring. Humans can peacefully co-exist with wildlife. Humans can look out for the welfare of our elephants. Elephants Need US.
