Enthusiastic baby elephants greeted First Lady Melania Trump on 5 October 2018 at their home in Nairobi, Kenya where the orphaned elephants are cared for by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. One baby elephant even had the honor to be bottle-fed her elephant formula by the First Lady as Executive Director Angela Sheldrick looked on.
The American First Lady made this stop on her first visit to Africa to highlight elephant conservation / wildlife conservation. The goodwill tour commenced on 2 October 2018 marking a six-day four nation visit.
